Amount (aka Nayan Soukie) returns to Silicone Soul's Darkroom Dubs with a trippy new EP, just in time to join the celebrations of the label's landmark 20th anniversary.

After making his name in the burgeoning minimal, techno and house scenes in his hometown of Bremen and rolling out revered collaborations with close friend and production partner Fritz Windish (as Soukie & Windish) and URSL label co-founders Sebo & Madmotormiquel, the Berlin-based producer has turned his attention to his live solo project. His latest offering, 'Psycho Disco', flirts with his minimal, downtempo and disco influences before dragging the listener into a time-distorting vortex in an impressive showcase of technical skill.

The deceivingly minimalistic 'The Snake' opens proceedings with aplomb, gripping yet groovy, before gradually twisting into a mesmerising blend of carefully crafted sonic layers. Underscored by robotic echoes and metallic notes, the relentless rhythm fades out only to come back in full force, dialling into the red and electrifying the dancefloor.

Next, the stripped-back 'In the Desert' brings a constantly escalating tension that hints at an underlying frenzy yearning to surface. Distorted and fragmented voices intertwine, looping into a hypnotic kaleidoscope that beckons us to surrender control and spirit away into an altered state.

Closing the EP is the gritty, acid-tinged title track, Psycho Disco - an after-hours groover with a beat that bounces around your brain, slowing into tense cascading tones before shifting abruptly on its axis to take an entirely different direction and purpose.

Minimalist in approach yet complex and multilayered, this latest dispatch is a powerful reminder of the raw power of live electronics. Let yourself go and prepare for an exhilarating ride. Amount will also feature on the Darkroom Dubs vicennial compilation out on the 28th of September.
